Thanksgiving 5 Things

Thanksgiving Five Things Doing these five things ahead will save you time, stress, and money. Do it now, and write them down. If you don't have the FlyLady Holiday Control Journal, go get one. http://www.flylady.net Search "Control Journal" and you'll find it. 1) Guest List. Pretty basic, but seriously, make your list; check it twice and start making those all-important phone calls. Knowing how many to plan for is an integral part of successful holiday planning. 2) The Menu. What are you having besides turkey? Make your menu and appropriate grocery list and get everything purchased except the perishables (do that a few days before). If you have stuff that might get mistakenly eaten before the big day, put it in a box and stash it in the linen closet or label it instructing your loved ones to stay far, far away from this Thanksgiving food item. 3) The Turkey. USE ALL Your Pumpkins This Year

Carving a pumpkin this fall? Don't throw any of it away! But at the Green Cheapskate's house, we eat our jack-o-lantern, every last bit of it. While some particularly meaty varieties of pumpkins are specifically grown to be eaten (including Sweet Jack-be-Littles, Cheese Pumpkins, Sugar Pumpkins, and some delicious heirl...

Give Thanks Naturally

Image
Okay, so I stole this from BHG.com... Give Thoughtful Thanks Cards on each plate invite guests to write down the things they are most thankful for this year. Use a leaf-shape hold punch to decorate the envelopes holding the cards. Wrap candles in pea pods, asparagus, or set them in hollowed out artichokes. I'd rather cook the asparagus, but I know some twigs and greens in the yard that might serve just as well. Now picture this on your altar when you give thanks. Yes, it's the Dark Time. You don't have to light the candles to decorate them.
